Sony Clie SJ22
One of the things about Sony is that they have a knack for filling in on niche markets that some other companies don’t seem to think are worth covering. In the case of the Clie SJ22, Sony is focusing in on persons who need a great little color PDA at a cheap price. With a price tag of around $200.00, the Sony Clie PDA offers a high-resolution color screen with a full 65K-color resolution. You would be hard pressed to find any PDA at any price that would provide a better display than the Sony SJ22 Clie PDA. Another perk of the screen is that it is backlit, which can come in handy in many situations. When it comes to being able to view your data, you will find it easy with the SJ22. Another perk is that the Sony Clie handheld PDA is light. In fact, it weighs in at less than five ounces. The size of the unit is somewhat more compact than many of the PDA’s on the market, which means you can carry it with a great deal of ease. The Sony PDA Clie aluminum case helps with the weight, but also helps to provide protection to the Sony Clie PDA battery as well.
When it comes to memory, that is where you begin to run into some issues. The cheap Sony SJ22 Clie PDA is not chock full of memory. In fact, what you have to work with is 16 MB of RAM, with roughly 15 MB available for your usage. You can use a Memory Stick, and in fact will find it necessary if you want to play very many games on your discount Sony SJ22 Clie PDA or be able to view videos on your PDA. If you are used to using a memory stick with your PDA, this will most likely not pose a big problem for you. On the other hand, people who are used to using a PDA with a lot more memory may be put off by having to use a Memory Stick to retrieve and work on files.
One plus of the scaled back software package and memory is that you have an excellent battery life with the SJ22. Using a rechargeable lithium battery, the SJ22 will not use a lot of energy during normal use. If you are the type that has trouble remembering to put your PDA back in the cradle to recharge, this might be a good thing for you. All in all, the Sony Clie SJ22 is a pretty good unit for what it does. You can enjoy working with basic applications and get quite a bit done. This unit is not all that great when it comes to using for music or video, unless you factor in the memory stick. Still, this would be a great tool for a college student or the young professional that is just getting started.
